DUNNING, Neb. -- Tuesday, a village in central Nebraska village not far from Broken Bow made a prominent political move.

The Village Board of Dunning voted on an ordinance to make performing an abortion or aiding in one illegal within the city limits.

Although the board's first vote to adopt the ordinance was unanimous, it must survive two more readings by the Village Board. Although, if the community shows enough support, the Village Board may move to finalize it without further readings.

The proposed ordinance contains a fine of $500 if disobeyed.

Currently, there are two municipalities in Nebraska that have outlawed abortion - the Village of Hayes Center and the City of Blue Hill.

The pastor of Sandhills Community Church has been leading the movement in Dunning.
