JOHNSON - Elgin Public/Pope John stayed on their incredible roll, punching their ticket to the D2 state semifinals, dominating Johnson-Brock Friday 22-8.

RB Jack Wemhoff was the difference, notching the final 2 TDs of the game in a comeback victory.

Wolfpack RB Cale Kinney opened the scoring with a 1st-quarter touchdown for a 6-0 EPPJ lead. The Eagles quickly responded to take their only advantage of the game, 8-6.

But Wemhoff and Elgin had the final word with an immediate answer and a 14-8 halftime lead. The Wolfpack defense held serve in the final 2 quarters, picking up two turnovers and denying Johnson-Brock on a goal-line stand.

Elgin Public-Pope John hosts Sandhills-Thedford in the semis this Friday.
