GURLEY, NE — No injuries were reported after a grain truck came open while crossing railroad tracks in Gurley.
Authorities say the accident happened Monday morning as a truck driver was attempting to get to Highway 385 on the south side of Gurley. The driver was crossing the nearby railroad tracks on 5th St when the bottom of the hopper scraped the ground due to the grade of the road.
The collision ripped open one of the hopper doors and grain began spilling onto the road. Authorities estimate about 300 bushels of grain ended up on the highway.
Tuesday, grain could still be seen along the shoulders of Highway 385 in and south of Gurley as well as on the east side of the railroad crossing.
