In 2020, the Syracuse Rockets were one season removed from a disappointing district final loss to Battle Creek and would fall one game short of making the state tournament. They used that loss as motivation to beat Sidney in last years district final and earned a first round matchup with Columbus Lakeview, where they would suffer a 3-0 loss in the first round. They used that loss to fuel a 25-1 regular season and sweep their way through the postseason to earn their 3rd state tournament berth in 4 years.

Their postseason journey would begin at home where they hosted the C1-2 Subdistrict and earned sweeps over Conestoga and Ashland-Greenwood. Those wins would earn them the #5 seed in the district final where they would travel to Brady High School to face the #12 seeded and 26-5 Mitchell Tigers with a state tourney spot on the line.
The Rockets came out on a mission as they took the first set from the Tigers 25-10.  In the second set, the Tigers were able to get the ball to their leading hitter Macey Bosard, but it wasn't enough as the Rockets took set number 2, 25-21.  It was all Rockets in the third set as they won 25-11 and take the C1-5 district championship and earn their 14th trip to the state championships.
With the victory, the Rockets will have the #5 seed and will have a rematch with Columbus Lakeview, which will be the #4 seed at the Class C1 State Volleyball Tournament.  The match will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Wednesday at 3 PM in a match that will be carried on B103.  Pregame will start at 2:45.
In other district final action that involved River Country teams, Palmyra lost to Sutton 3-0 in the C2-5 district final played in Sutton.  In the D1-4 District Final, Johnson Brock's season ended after a 3-1 loss to Archbishop Bergan.  In the D1-7 District Final, Elmwood Murdock will be making their 4th trip to the state tournament after defeating Alma 3-0.  In the D2-1 District Final, Falls City Sacred Heart defeated Arthur County 3-0 to make their 13th trip to the state championships.
