BEATRICE – Next year will be an active one for elections locally on the county government level. All Gage County elected officials face the decision whether to run again, including four of seven positions on the county board, in districts one, three, five and seven.

Gage County Board Chairman Erich Tiemann, who represents the third district, has made his decision.

"I'm gonna be running for reelection again....just what people want to hear....but, I really enjoy what I do here for the county. I really appreciate the chance to work for the people here. It's a great job."

Tiemann says it is a little unusual that all county elected office positions come up for election at the same time, rather than a staggered approach. He says continuity, to some extent in county government, can be good.  "There needs to be some continuity there. We're really lucky with our officials that we have."

While some may judge continuity as a good thing, others say new faces in elected positions can also be a good thing. Ultimately, that’s up to voters.

"It's a right that we have that a lot of places don't have. It's just a great way to participate...to be involved in local government, state government, our local school boards.....all those roles are very important. They're not always the jobs you get pats on the back for, but they're necessary....and it's great to see more involvement in the community."

Other county supervisors who are facing the decision of whether or not to run again, include Gary Lytle, of Beatrice, Eddie Dorn, of Filley and Terry Jurgens, of Odell.
