Patricia Timm, who represented Southeast Nebraska's District 5, intends to resign from her role Friday.

BEATRICE - Patricia Timm, who has represented Southeast Nebraska's District 5 on the Nebraska State Board of Education, intends to resign from her role Friday.
Timm, 74, represented District 5 for over 17 years, is a resident of Beatrice, and cited health concerns for her reason to resign. She is a former member of the Beatrice Public Schools District Fifteen Board of Education. She is married to retired Gage County Judge, Steve Timm.
Pat Timm is a former Kindergarten teacher and Art Teacher and Education Coordinator for Centenary United Methodist Church, in Beatrice.
Her resignation leaves an opening for the role on the eight-member board and Gov. Pete Ricketts will need to appoint a new District 5 board member in 45 days. The seat is up for election in November 2022 and the appointed member will need to run in order to keep the position.
It is possible the governor take applications for the seat. District 5 covers southeast Nebraska areas including Lancaster County as well as Gage County and Beatrice.
