Peru State September athletes of the month
Peru State athletic director Wayne Albury recently announced that golfer Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) and football player Shane McInerney (Galway, Ireland) were selected as September's Bobcat Athletes of the Month.

(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State athletic director Wayne Albury recently announced that golfer Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) and football player Shane McInerney (Galway, Ireland) were selected as September's Bobcat Athletes of the Month.
Finke has been the top golfer for the Bobcats in the meets she has competed in so far this fall while student teaching. Recently, McInerney was named as the Heart of America Conference (Heart) Special Teams Player of the Week.
In the recent Culver-Stockton tournament, Finke earned the third-place medal by shooting a 90 on the first day and then coming back with an 87 on the second day. The Bobcat team finished second in the meet. In addition, Finke tied for third in the Graceland Fall Invite in Lamoni, Iowa. She shot an 83 to lead the 'Cats who finished third as a team.
McInerney earned his first honor as a Bobcat for his efforts in helping lead Peru State to the win over MidAmerica Nazarene in their homecoming win. He made field goals of 30 and yards and also connected on his lone PAT of the day. He has been perfect on the year in his field goal and extra point kicking.
Albury commented, "Taylor continues to be a leader on the women's golf team while handling student teaching. Shane is the first Bobcat athlete to earn conference honors this year. Thus, the selection of the two for the September athletes of the month."
