Property plans and rezoning handled by Beatrice City Council

BEATRICE – Beatrice elected officials acted on several property plans and rezoning requests Monday night. Final approval was given to rezoning two lots near 19th and Market from residential to commercial. The property is immediately south of the Sunmart Grocery store.
The council also approved a rezoning on property just inside the city’s two-mile zoning jurisdiction, from agriculture to rural residential. It’s located near East Sargent and South 17th Road. The plat of Cottonwood Meadows at that location was approved by the body.
Elected officials approved vacating two lots in south Beatrice and a new development design that will include a third lot.
City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer says the property is in the Lake LaDu area. "Just south of Crestview Avenue....just north of Belvidere Avenue."
The council approved an ordinance for the Koenig Second Addition, including the three lots in the south Beatrice area.
"I believe the understanding is that two of the lots will have spec houses built on them....for resale."
Monday night, officials released a property from the city’s Mow-to-Own program, located on West Mary Street. A resident moved a house to the site and finished the project. Under the program, citizens can acquire city-owned property and agree to maintain it toward permanent ownership or build on the property.
The Beatrice City Council has approved a plan for a flyover to provide ongoing digital imagery of the City of Beatrice. The city will pay $24,700 to a company called Pictometry, which will do aerial photography covering the city. Gage County is also contracting with the company for flyover of other areas of the county.
City Council members Monday night also approved the final pay request to R.L. Tiemann Construction on the Bell Street concrete paving from 5th to 6th. The payment totaled $131,043.
