Town of Carleton celebrates 'Milo Days' while dedicating new fire station
Despite hot temperatures, the town of Carleton saw hundreds come to the town for the annual Milo Days celebration, in which the town dedicated their new fire house.

CARLETON - Despite hot temperatures, the town of Carleton saw hundreds come to the town for the annual Milo Days celebration, in which the town dedicated their new fire station.
“This building will house people in our safe room from weather disasters,” Rod Hinrichs, of the Rural Fire Board said. “It will also house trucks, equipment, and medical emergency equipment to help keep us safe.”
Brian Tuma of Nebraska Emergency Management and Sen. Tom Brandt both spoke at the event.
"A facility like this is a tremendous investment by the community,” Tuma said. “It helps support those firefighters with what they’re trying to do, as well as the EMS division.”
“Today, we dedicate this new building, and its facilities, to serve the needs of the Town of Carleton,” Brandt said. “This beautiful station is a culmination of much planning and hard work.”
Tuma thanked the rural fire board, as they were crucial in the planning of the station.
“I want to commend the rural fire board for this fantastic facility. This is really quite an accomplishment, in my opinion,” Tuma said. “This will serve the community extremely well.”
Sen. Brandt explained what the station says about the community of 91 people, as well as how it will provide assistance in addition to safety.
“This building makes a bold statement about your community and shows Carleton’s forward progress to public safety, and lower insurance rates,” Brandt said.
