PLATTSMOUTH- After being upset in the opening round of the tournament 1-0, Nebraska City Post 8 responded by scoring 11 runs in a runaway victory against Springfield.

Post 8 capitalized in the first inning by getting two runs off of key walks from Jordan Williams and Clay Stovall. The duo would later be sent home by Eli Southard and Quintin Holman to make it 2-0 Nebraska City.

Post 8 tacked a few more runs on in the third to make the score 5-0 Nebraska City, but Springfield responded by scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth.

After a Southard walk, Holman proved to be the spark Post 8's offense needed, with a two-run shot to left field. The offense for Post 8 continued to pile it on the Springfield defense, and by the middle of the fifth inning, Nebraska City led 11-2.

That would be the final score from Plattsmouth in the loser's bracket of Class B area 2 District.

Nebraska City eliminates Springfield 11-2 in five innings, and will advance to the next round where Post 8 could play either Roncalli, Lincoln Christian, or the winner of Plattsmouth/Auburn tomorrow.
