NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk's City Council wasted no time approving two motions before concluding their meeting.

The first item approved was to waiver the required sewer connection of Wade Blackman's property.

Steven Rames, the Norfolk Public Works Director, explained that Blackman's sewer was within the city's requirement to connect to Norfolk's existing sewer line. However, Blackman's sewage line is unable to connect with the city's and therefore was seeking a waiver until such a connection was possible, which was approved.

The second item was the approval of adding $1,160 to Beckenhauer Construction, Inc. for the "River Point Square and 3rd Street Alley project."

The extra money was needed due to a light pole. The base of an existing light pole in the project zone had to be modified in order to include it in the project. That cost $1,160, resulting in approval from the council.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 12. For the full July 6 agenda, a link to the downloadable document can be found here.
