Fatal car accident south of Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. -- A central Nebraska man is dead after a car accident south of Kearney.

The Kearney Police Department says officers were called to a crash on the Broadfoot's Sand & Gravel property Thursday afternoon.

There, police found a truck stuck against a metal gate. The driver, 53-year-old Robert Beam of Kearney was found dead.

Authorities say the car was driving on a private access road and collided with a partially open gate.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. An autopsy has been ordered.
