Bond reduction denied for Beatrice man charged with murder
April arraignment set for Brandon J. Long in the death of Alex Rader
BEATRICE – A Gage County District Judge has denied a bond reduction, for a Beatrice man charged with murder.
Bond remains set at one-million dollars for 25-year-old Brandon J. Long, accused in the shooting death last December 30th of 26-year-old Alex Rader.
The victim was standing outside Long’s home late in the evening, when Long and his fiancé heard noises. Long went outside and allegedly shot Rader. Investigators said Long had been suspicious of a relationship between Rader and Long’s fiancé.
Long, a former Nebraska Corrections Department employee, is charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. If convicted, he could receive up to life in prison on the murder count and up to fifty years in prison for the weapon charge.
Arraignment in Gage County District court is scheduled for April 8th.
