(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State women's bowling team finished sixth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Championship held this past weekend.
The Heart championship was hosted by Culver-Stockton (Mo.) and was held in Keokuk, Iowa.
The championship consisted of 28 Baker games on Saturday and then match-play on Sunday.
Baker (Kan.) won the women's championship over William Penn (Iowa). The other placings were: third – Clarke (Iowa), fourth – Grand View (Iowa), fifth – Culver-Stockton (Mo.), and sixth – Peru State.
The highlight of the match-play for Peru State was actually taking one game from William Penn while bowling with just four bowlers. That meant leaving two frames open during the game. The Bobcats also faced Grand View in the elimination round.
Members of the Peru State women's team are McKinley Cross (Buhler, Kan.), Kassidy Haberman (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Emily Meyer (Sabetha, Kan.), and Alena Montoya (Lakewood, Colo.). All four bowlers will be coming back next fall.
Bowling coordinator Brenda Lutz and the Bobcat bowling staff are busily recruiting for the 2020-21 season and will be hosting an open tryout on April 11.
