Last-second shot lifts Weeping Water to Class D1 title
LINCOLN - In a game that featured two ties and eleven lead changes, a last-second shot by Weeping Water's Grace Cave proved to be the difference.
Pleasanton's Kaci Pierce hit a lay-in with nine seconds left to give the defending-champion bulldogs a 39-38 lead.
But Cave, a UNO commit, took the inbounds pass and dribbled the length of the court, laying in the game-winning shot.
The win for Weeping Water serves as a parting gift for Coach Joel Haberman, who is leaving the school after this year to take a coaching position at Morningside College.
