Bridgeport secures No. 3 seed at boys state basketball

LINCOLN - Bridgeport will make their 13th appearance at the Nebraska School Activities Association Boys State Basketball Championships in Lincoln.
The Bulldogs (23-2), under first-year Head Coach Sean Sterkel, are the No. 3 seed in the Class C2 bracket and will play No. 6 BRLD (18-4) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 10. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CST at Lincoln Northeast High School.
News Channel Nebraska will carry all Bridgeport games at the state tournament on 98.7 FM, newschannelnebraska.com and the NCN app.
The Bulldogs secured their second Lincoln trip in three years with a 56-46 overtime victory against Oakland-Craig in the Class C2-3 District Championship on Saturday in Kearney.
The last time the Bulldogs played in the NSAA state tournament was in 2019 when they lost to Ponca in the first round, 54-32. They haven't won a game at state since they won it all in 1990, the school's lone state basketball title.
