HARTINGTON - The Cedar Catholic boys are joining their female counterparts at the state tourney in Lincoln after dispatching the other Trojans, 56-45 over Wakefield in the C2-5 District Final.

Defense was the order of the day early on, with Wakefield leading only 5-3 after one. Then both offenses began to feel their oats. A 16-15 halftime advantage for Wakefield was quickly turned around in the second half, as Cedar Catholic outscored them 20-11 in the third and 21-18 in the fourth. Big night for the super sophs, as Carson Arens led with 18 points and Jaxson Bernecker added in 14.

Senior Blake Brown did all he could for Wakefield in a losing cause, lighting up the scoreboard with 28, while Justin Erb chipped in 10. Turnovers may have ultimately done in Wakefield, giving up the ball 18 times to only 12 for HCC, particularly down the stretch.

Cedar Catholic heads to Lincoln for the first time in 6 years, 20th time overall.
