COLUMBUS, Neb. - Winter is almost in the rearview mirror across the state, and now one venue in Columbus is gearing up for the new season.

Co-owners of the US 30 Speedway, Bobby and Jenelle Lincoln are prepping the track for the racing season.

"Last weekend I took the road grater and I took all of the snow off the track itself," Bobby said.

If the snow soaks in, the track will have big holes which can be dangerous for drivers and their cars.

Once the track is ready, hundreds of drivers from all across the region will be too.

"March 25, we have the Dirt Crown Series, which is a four-day touring series through Nebraska," said Bobby. "It's the first time anybody's ever done a touring series."

After the Lincoln family built it 35 years ago, Bobby is in his 4th year of owning it. He says it's about more than just racing.

"Racing is a big family," he said.

Although the pandemic has made social distancing a staple at the track, it won't stop the excitement.

Once the season begins, fans of all ages are invited to come out and enjoy the track.
