SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Day three concludes for interviews in the search for a new school superintendent to replace Rick Myles. Wendy Kemling Horner stands in front of the board and makes her case as to why she is the best candidate for this position.

“I have I just understand the inner workings of our school district,” said Kemling Horner. “I am able to navigate through that very easily. I have had great superintendents that I have worked for and they been able to learn from each one of them their attributes that were the best and be able to integrate that into my leadership style as well.”

Kemling Horner said she has been working in the Scottbluff school district for 15 years.

“I have an impeccable ability to build relationships with others and then to be able to navigate and negotiate for a good resolution when things aren’t going well,” said Kemling Horner. “So just being able to build relationships and be able to cultivate those over the course of time.”

“I am responsible for most of the areas that cover students with different needs or abilities,” said Kemling Horner. “I also been in charge of preschool I have been in charge of the after school program. When you look at the whole scope of what I do this is going to be an easy transition for me but it’s going to be easy because of the work I have put into ahead of time.”

“I really look forward to this opportunity I have worked diligently in this district to make sure that we have the ability to fund the priorities of our district,” said Kemling Horner. “I have done that through multiple opportunities to write grants I am an advocate for kids and I really hope that if I am selected that people know that there’s an open door they can come in and visit with me.”
