McCaffrey announces transfer destination
A former Husker quarterback has a new home.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- A former Husker quarterback has a new home. Luke McCaffrey, who started two games for Nebraska in 2020, announced on Monday that he will be transferring to Louisville.
McCaffrey had made his intentions to leave the Husker program on January 26, tweeting his initial announcement as he did again on Monday.
"After struggling with this decision for weeks, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and explore my options," McCaffrey tweeted in January. "I am thankful for the support Nebraska fans have shown me. I have so much love for my coaches and teammates from my time here. I am excited for the future."
Louisville is coming off a 4-7 season in 2020. The Cardinals are 12-12 in two seasons under current head coach Scott Satterfield.
McCaffrey played in seven of eight games in 2020, starting two. He completed 48 of 76 passes for 466 yards with one touchdown and six interceptions. He also scored three rushing touchdowns while carrying the ball 65 times for 364 yards. He accounted for 1,138 total yards in 11 career games with the Huskers.
