GACC Girls Close Regular Season With Win Over Pierce
The Bluejays of Guardian Angels Central Catholic are heading to their subdistrict tournament off a strong 53-25 victory Thursday night over Pierce.

WEST POINT - The Bluejays of Guardian Angels Central Catholic are heading to their subdistrict tournament off a strong 53-25 victory Thursday night over Pierce.
GACC held Pierce scoreless in the first quarter, taking a 12-0 lead, and was able to increase its advantage to 24-12 by halftime. The second half was much of the same from the Bluejays, outscoring Pierce 29-13 in the final two quarters to roll to their 20th victory of the season.
GACC was lead by junior Livia Hunke with 13 points while fellow junior Sophia Hass added seven in the win. Pierce was lead by senior Kenzie Moeller with 12 points and senior Abby Meier chipped in six points.
The victory improves GACC to 20-3 on the season, and up next for the Bluejays will be the C2-3 Subdistrict Tournament on their home floor. GACC will take on Tekamah-Herman in the first round on Tuesday, and the winner of that game will play the winner of Wisner-Pilger vs. Howells-Dodge on the 18th.
Pierce falls to 12-10 with the loss, but still have one regular-season game remaining at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Friday. Pierce will be hosting the C1-6 Subdistrict Tournament next week, and will play the winner of Homer vs. Wayne in the first round on Tuesday.
