BRIDGEPORT - Snowfall, heavy at times, is expected to lower visibility Friday afternoon and evening in the Bridgeport area.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne placed the majority of the Nebraska Panhandle in a winter weather advisory until 5 p.m. Saturday. Total snow accumulations of three to six inches is possible in Chadron, Chappell Alliance, Scottsbluff, Gering, Harrisburg and Bridgeport. Goshen County in Wyoming and Keith and Arthur Counties in Nebraska are also included in the advisory.

The NWS says to slow down and use caution while traveling.

The only counties not included in the advisory are Kimball and Cheyenne Counties.

However, the entire Panhandle, southeast Wyoming and northeast Colorado remains in a wind chill advisory until 11 a.m. Monday morning. The feel-like temperature could be as low as 30 below zero.

According to the forecasters, the dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

These temperatures also pose a threat to livestock and outdoor animals due to the combination of snow and cold, and due to the longevity of the cold event.
