Lady Raiders Sail Past Alliance
The Sidney Lady Raider basketball team initiated the 40-point running clock less than a minute into the second half to cruise to a 64-24 win over the Alliance Bulldogs on Tuesday night at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility.
SIDNEY - The Sidney Lady Raider basketball team initiated the 40-point running clock less than a minute into the second half to cruise to a 64-24 win over the Alliance Bulldogs on Tuesday night at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. Sidney improves to 15-6 on the season with their third win of the year over Alliance.
The Lady Raiders utilized full court pressure early in the game, which caused the Bulldogs to commit 27 turnovers before halftime. Sidney took full advantage, scoring nearly half of their 47 first-half points off of those Alliance turnovers. Leading 22-6 after the first period, Sidney cranked up the offensive even more in the second quarter. The Lady Raiders hit 9 of their 13 shots from the floor in the period to take a 47-10 lead into intermission.
The second half went quickly. Karly Sylvester’s offensive rebound and put-back just forty seconds into the third period gave Sidney a 51-10 lead and instigated the running clock.
All 13 players on the Sidney roster scored in the ballgame, led by Alecca Campbell’s 12 points. Karly Sylvester chipped in 10 points and had 5 rebounds while sophomore Rheagan Stanley added 9 points. Alliance was led by junior Emma Wood who finished with 9 points.
The Lady Raiders and Red Raiders will be back on the court Friday when they host the Chadron Cardinals at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. Junior Varsity games tipoff at 4:00 p.m. Varsity girls is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys game at 7:00 p.m.
