Snow, strong winds and mixed precipitation could affect much of the state overnight and into Thursday. As a result, a winter weather advisory has been issued for much of the eastern half of the state.

The advisory is in effect until 9:00 a.m. Thursday for Boyd, Rock, Holt, Blaine, Loup, Garfield, Wheeler, Custer, Dixon, Dakota, Knox, Cedar, Antelope, Pierce, Wayne, Boone, Madison, Stanton and Platte Counties. It goes into effect as early as 9:00 p.m. for many of those counties.

Valley, Greeley, Nance, Sherman, Howard, Merrick, Polk, Dawson, Buffalo, Hall, Hamilton, York, Gosper, Phelps, Kearney, Adams, Clay and Fillmore are in the advisory from midnight until 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Further east, Thurston, Cuming, Burt, Colfax, Dodge, Washington, Butler, Saunders, Douglas, Sarpy, Seward, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Saline, Johnson and Nemaha Counties are in the advisory from 2:00 a.m. until noon Thursday.

The rest of the state is in a hazardous weather outlook. The cold and wet could conditions could hang on and resurface during the weekend.
