Scottsbluff, Gering renew rivalry on basketball court

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff and Gering basketball teams in action Saturday night squaring off in Gering.
The Scottsbluff girls got big nights from Mariyah Avila and Sabrina Harsh as the Bearcats fought off a very strong Gering charge to earn a 50-40 win.
The contest would go back and forth most of the way until key runs late in third quarter and early fourth quarter would give Scottsbluff a cushion.
Sydnee Winkler and Madison Seiler would guide Gering in the contest. Scottsbluff improves to 13-4 on the season while Gering falls to 7-8 on the season.
The Scottsbluff boys also had to defeat a very spirited Gering team and in the end the Bearcats got big nights from Tyler Harre and Trevor Schwartz as Scottsbluff defeated Gering 63-56.
Gering playing without injured Brett Pszanka had several players step their games up including senior Jack Franklin who led all scorers with 20 points. Max Greeley chipped in with 15 points on the night.
Scottsbluff improves to 7-8 on the season while Gering falls to 4-11 on the season.
