A winter weather advisory has been issued for Madison, Stanton, Platte, Colfax, Boone, and Butler counties until midnight tonight as mixed precipitation is expected until that time. Snow accumulation of up to one inch and ice accumulation of up to one-tenth of an inch is anticipated in portions of east-central and northeast Nebraska.
Madison County Sheriff Todd Volk is urging drivers to slow down and use caution, saying black ice on roadways are creating very hazardous driving conditions.
Multiple accidents have been reported on Highway 81 north of Madison, which has caused traffic delays and closures. Nebraska 511 is reporting multiple roadways in northeast Nebraska are completely covered with snow and ice at this time.
