As the inauguration approaches, the Nebraska Farm Bureau is sharing its hopes about the presidential transition and what it means for the agriculture industry.

President Mark McHargue told NCN its 2021 priorities include broadband connectivity, rural development, keeping property taxes low, and rejoining TTP.

President-elect Joe Biden has made it clear environmentalism will be a focus of his. McHargue hopes Biden will work with NFB to evolve those policies together.

"Agriculture has always been very concerned about the environment because the soil is what we use every day in crops," McHargue said.

McHargue shared that President Trump's administration was particularly helpful to agriculture -- however, that the trade war with China did bring uncertainty to markets. But he feels that exports are bouncing back and will so even more with more free trade in Biden's administration.
