GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A school in central Nebraska was in lockout due to an alleged threat.

Grand Island Public Schools said that Barr Middle School was in lockout Thursday morning due to a threat allegedly directed at a staff member.

When the the threat was received, Grand Island Public Schools contacted local authorities and ordered that the school implement security procedures.

While the lockout has been declared over, GIPS says all threats to their schools or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

The school says it will continue to work with Grand Island Police.
