Bridgeport beats Burns, sets up unbeaten match with Ogallala Thursday

BURNS, Wyo. - The Bridgeport boys basketball team jumped out to a 28-9 halftime lead and never looked back in their 66-45 victory over Burns on Saturday.

Senior Luis Garza finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and a pair of assists as the Bulldogs improved to 9-0 this season. Senior Bayler Sterkel chipped in 13 points and 4 assists, senior Brady Newkirk added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and senior Jake Wallesen dished out 6 assists.

Bridgeport shot 56% from the field. 

Meanwhile, the Bridgeport girls basketball improved to 8-1 with a 78-51 victory over Burns on Saturday.

The Bulldogs host Ogallala in a girl/boy doubleheader on Thursday. The girls game tips-off at 5:30 p.m. with the boys game, featuring two unbeaten teams, to follow.
