SPRINGFIELD, MO — The parent company that operates Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is growing its outdoors retail portfolio.

Great American Outdoors Group announced Monday that it entered into an agreement to acquire Sportsman’s Warehouse for $18 per share in cash. Great American Outdoors will remain a private company.

Bass Pro acquired Sidney, NE-based Cabela’s in 2017. Together, the two brands operate 169 stores.

Sportsman’s Warehouse started 30 years ago in West Jordan, Utah. It boasts 112 store locations, primarily in the western U.S.

The merger agreement was unanimously approved by the Sportsman’s Warehouse Board of Directors. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2021.
