Beatrice has new public library director
Joanne Neeman was one of two finalists for the position
BEATRICE – The interim director for the Beatrice Public Library can now remove the interim tag.
Joanne Neeman was appointed as the new Director of the Beatrice Public Library by the city council, Monday night. She takes over for Laureen Riedesul, who retired recently after more than four decades with the city.
"I think Laureen did a fantastic job. I would like to continue what she has started, but kind of expand on more of the technology...and the maker space."
Neeman says she has thoughts about the possibility of a café setting in the lower level of the library, which was remodeled into an arts display area. Neeman has been with the Beatrice Public Library for seven years, serving as a Youth Services Director.
