PERU- Auburn BPW informed the City of Peru early Tuesday morning that the transfer pump from the WT skid to the tower was failing and needed to be taken out of service. Tower level had lowered to about 17.5 feet. JEO engineers who helped install the skid responded.
The City has ordered a repair kit and is coordinating a technician to install it. This will take approximately two weeks, estimated cost is $1,900 plus labor. The City also ordered a new pump from Gould. JEO estimated that will be around $3,000 plus delivery, which will likely take 3 weeks to manufacture and ship.
DHHS informed the City we cannot use fire trucks to fill the tower. Thank you to Schmidt trucking and Rieschick’s pump for their work to fill the tower beginning last Wednesday. Schmidt is short of drivers because of COVID – the City is also looking into calling the National Guard.
It is also possible to reconfigure our well pump to go directly into the system with no treatment, but this would be a last resort.
A boil water notice has been issued.
