SIDNEY, NE — Three local schools are preparing to host Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) Play Production district competitions.

Sidney, Creek Valley and Bridgeport will all host numerous casts and crews in the first week of December. In preparation for the events, the NSAA has released guidelines for the schools to follow.

The NSAA is implementing a variety of requirements to help slow the spread of COVID-19. They include the following: active participants are permitted, but not required to wear face masks, spectators, judges, directors, crew members and non-active participants are required to wear face coverings at all times.

Further, all interactions between crews, casts, judges, etc. should maintain six feet of social distancing. Host schools must also create areas with at least six feet of distance for judges during competition and oral critiques.

Lastly, performances must be scheduled at least one hour apart. Host schools can impose additional requirements if they wish.

The NSAA also recommends schools take further action like designating arrival departure times for the participating schools, creating separate points of entry for cast and crews versus spectators and presenting awards virtually.

Sidney is set to host the B-6 district on Saturday, Dec. 5. Competing schools include Sidney, Ogallala, Mitchell, Alliance, McCook, Valentine and Gothenburg.

Bridgeport will host the C1-6 district on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Bridgeport will compete with Bayard, Hershey, West Holt, Ainsworth, Gordon-Rushville, Chase County and Ord.

Creek Valley will host the D1-6 district on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Heading to Chappell to compete against the Storm are South Platte, Leyton, Paxton, Minatare, Potter-Dix, Cody-Kilgore and Hay Springs.

State One Acts is set for Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 11 in Norfolk. Class D2 and D1 will compete Wednesday. Class C2 and C1 take the stage Thursday and Class B and A finish out the season on Friday.
