PERU-The City of Peru is currently in a Stage 3 Water Emergency.

Peru Water System Emergency Contingencies STAGE 3: WATER EMERGENCY- Due to the High Service Pump at the water treatment plant failing, the City of Peru is now enforcing the Stage 3 Water Emergency. The main goal of this stage is to reduce peak demands by 50% and to reduce overall weekly consumption by 25%

Actions being taken by the City of Peru: 

-The City’s water supplies are being monitored very closely 

-Leaks will be repaired within 24 hours of detection. 

-Customer Service lines that are leaking will be shut off until repairs are made. 

-Water users that can utilize Non-Potable water will use other water sources. 

-The City of Peru and Peru State College will cease the operation of fountains, watering of grounds, and washing of vehicles. 

-The City is seeking additional emergency supplies from other users.

Mandatory Public Actions: 

-Outdoor water use will be banned. 

-Car washing will be forbidden. 

-All lawn/irrigation water will be banned. 

-City water system may not be used for livestock. 

-Waste of water will be prohibited.
