A push to repeal a racially charged amendment to the Nebraska Constitution is in for round two.
A push to repeal a racially charged amendment to the Nebraska Constitution is in for round two.
Earlier this year public officials in Omaha asked the Nebraska Legislature to ask voters to repeal the state’s ban on affirmative action but time ran out before lawmakers could act.
The ban was put in place in 2008 when voters overwhelmingly approved Initiative 424.
Next week the Omaha City Council is expected to back a second bite at the apple when the Legislature convenes in January.
Most likely any statewide vote to repeal the ban would have to wait until 2022.
