SIDNEY, NE — WHILE MANY BUSINESSES ARE STRUGGLING DURING THE PANDEMIC, ONE COMPANY IN THE PANHANDLE IS EXPANDING.

“Being based out of Kasnas, Sidney was a natural fit for our company. Just good, Midwestern, down to earth, hardworking people,” Sarah Sinnett said.

Sinnett is the Vice President of Marketing and Technology for G.L. Huyett. She says of all the tough decision's she's made in the past few months, one of the biggest challenges- is just narrowing down who to hire.

“Its almost impossible to make a decision because there are so many talented people in this community,” she said.

When the company set up a location in Sidney last year. Sinnett was tapped to take the lead. Just over a year later, they’ve quadrupled the number of employees. The company has moved once already due to growth and Sinnett says they’re not done.

“Eventually, we would like to buy a building and be more local to downtown once we find the right building for how we’re growing,” Sinnett said.

The company is one of many that has tapped in to Sidney’s pool of talent after the sale of Cabela’s to Bass Pro. Sinnett herself used to work for Cabela’s.

“The people we’ve been hiring are incredibly talented, incredibly intelligent, everything you could ask for in a pool of candidates, they’re here,” she said.

G.L. Huyett is a manufacturing company that specializes in selling fasteners to the auto industry and others. The Sidney branch focuses on expanding the company’s digital presence. It’s a combination that has paid dividends for the company, even in a year like 2020.

“Even though a lot of businesses are struggling with sales, we’ve seen profitability hit an all time high and it’s because of the value this team is bringing," she said.

G.L Huyett is currently located at 1243 County Road 113, just south of the Sidney Airport. You can learn more about them at www.huyett.com
