With Walmart Closing, Local Stores Slammed

The Walmart Supercenter of Norfolk, in Northeast Nebraska, is closed until Friday morning. It stated it will take the time to clean, sanitize, and restock shelves. 

NCN was informed COVID-19 is related to the concern. 

The 2400 W. Pasewalk Ave location closed at 2 p.m. Wednesday. 

"I just didn't know, I walked up not seeing any big signs or anything," Walmart customer Joy Herrian said after showing up to the empty parking lot. 

Meanwhile, with less competition, local grocers are seeing a huge boost in sales. If you went to Hy-Vee Thursday, you might think it was Black Friday. 

Hy-Vee owners at both locations confirmed a massively busy day and therefore were too busy to speak with us.
