Falls City-It was an exciting Friday night under the lights for the Iowa and Nebraska State Quarterfinals in Football.

Number 1 seed Falls City Sacred Heart went up against #9 Osceola in what turned out to be a tale of two halves. The Irish were stunned by the Bulldogs at halftime by a score of 28-14, setting the stage for a massive upset. However, Falls City Sacred Heart put on a show in the second half scoring 40 unanswered points, finishing off Osceola by a final score of 56-26. Proving why they are the #1 seed in Class D2.

Also, Irish Volleyball won a 3rd place finish at the State Tournament beating Maywood/Hayes Center 3 sets to 1

Auburn went up against a very tough Kearney Catholic football team, who was led by Husker recruit Heinrich Haarberg.  It was a physical match-up that went back and forth for most of the game with both teams struggling to generate offense.  It was the depth of the Stars that reigned supreme as they were able to wear down the Bulldogs as the game went on.  But as they have done all year, no matter the circumstances, Auburn battled to the very end.

With Haarberg sprinting towards the end-zone with under 1:30 to play in the game to seal the Stars victory.  The Auburn defense ripped the ball from his hands just shy of the goal line and Brody Darnell took it over 90 yards for the touchdown to make the score 21-12.  Unfortunately for Auburn that would be the final score as the two point conversion was incomplete and the ensuing onside kick was recovered by Kearney Catholic. Auburn ends their season with a record of 8-2.

In Class B Plattsmouth traveled to #1 seed Bennington.  In a game that the Blue Devils trailed at half, they persevered and kept their magical season alive upsetting Bennington by a score of 34-27

Sterling maintained their perfect season as they beat Red Cloud 52-14 moving on to the State Semifinals in 6 man football.

Fremont-Mills saw their toughest challenge in the Iowa State Football Playoffs, facing off against the undefeated Cam Cougars, but were able to get the 30-28 win to advance to the Semis in Iowa 8 man football at the UNI Dome this Thursday.

Weeping Water put in a valiant effort traveling to play #1 Tri County, but fell short 44-28, ending their season with a record of 8-2.
