East Troublesome Fire crosses continental divide, forces evacuation of Estes Park

LARIMER COUNTY, CO - Evacuations continue in Colorado as wildfire grip the state. 

The National Weather Service office in Boulder, Colorado says the East Troublesome Fire jumped the continental divide Thursday as it makes its way toward Estes Park, Colorado. 

The expansion of the fire led to a mandatory evacuation order for the town Thursday afternoon. For a map of areas under mandatory and voluntary evacuations go to nocoalert.org.

According to authorities, the East Troublesome Fire started burning Wednesday, Oct. 14 and has already claimed 125,000 acres. It is only five percent contained. 

Rocky Mountain National Park is also completely closed off to the public.
