Callaway Public Schools requiring masks
Many schools are finding it necessary to require masks for everyone, including students and staff, within their school buildings.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Many schools are finding it necessary to require masks for everyone, including students and staff, within their school buildings. Callaway Public School made this requirement part of their COVID-19 proceedure as of Monday.
In response to recommendations from Loup Basin Health Department, and an increased number of positive cases and direct exposures in Callaway, masks are required until at least October 18.
The Callaway Public Schools' letter to the public explaining the change is in the hope of avoiding large group quarantines. This means, if masks are being worn, only those who test positive, and those showing symptoms will need to quarantine and isolate. Those wearing masks will only need to self-monitor if exposed to others testing positive.
On October 18, the manditory mask requirement will be re-evaluated, and decisions about the mandate will be made with those current situations.
Superintendent of Callaway Public Schools Bryon Hanson said, “I know we will be able to do what is necessary to keep our students in school.”
