Gering softball team ends regular season with win

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Gering softball team wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday with a 13-1 win over Alliance.

Gering saw big nights from Nickie Todd, Madeline Wiese, and Brylee Dean. Todd and Dean both finishing with two hits on the night. Todd also adding four RBI.

Wiese led the way from Gering at the plate and on the mound. Going 3-3 and 5 RBI plus hitting a home run. Wiese also pitched 3 innings striking out six and pitching a no hitter.

Gering came out of the gates strong scoring six runs over the first two innings. Alliance got on the board in the top of the third as Keeley Mazanec reached base on an error and then scored on a sacrifice to close the lead to 6-1. But a seven run bottom of the third put the game out of reach.

Gering finishes the regular season at 20-9. Up next for local teams Gering, Alliance, Scottsbluff, and Chadron sub-districts beginning on Monday.
