(Peru, Neb.) – First it was the Peru State bowling teams which made its mark on history on Saturday. Then, a second piece of Bobcat history happened as the revived Peru State men's cross country program finally competed in its first meet in more than 30 years.

Peru State competed in the Dean White Invitational in Crete hosted by Doane on September 26. The last time the Bobcats had a cross country program was around 1986.

The 8K race was run under some very warm and muggy conditions and it did take a little toll on the men's team in what was the first collegiate competition for all of the Bobcat runners.

The host Tigers team won their own invite with a team total of 41. Finishing second was Concordia with 54.

Other placings were third – Grand View (Iowa) – 64; fourth – Bellevue – 89; fifth – Mount Marty – 112; and sixth – Peru State – 180.

Noah Temme (Fairmont) – a two-time winner of the Nebraska's Toughest Mile – led Peru State in their first meet. Temme finished 58th in a time of 35:31.2 which was 34th for scoring purposes.

Edwin Quinones (Loiza, Puerto Rico) was Peru State's second finisher as he completed the course with a time of 37:00.1. Quinones was 62nd/35th.

Other Bobcat runners competing were: Alan Simpson (Powhattan, Kan.) – 38:32.8 – 64th/36thAlec Santos (Boys Town) – 39:17.8 – 65th/37th; Jeffrey Hart (Elkhorn) – 43:42.4 – 66th/38th; and Austin Eads (Falls City) – 45:04.4 – 68th/39th.

Upcoming Meet

The Bobcats will be off for a couple of weeks which will allow a couple more runners to be able to join the team when they run in the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday, Oct. 10.
