BEATRICE – Main Street Beatrice is announcing a downtown mural project is getting underway, Friday…with the cleaning work and then a primer being applied this Sunday.

Main Street Executive Director Michael Sothan said the color on the mural will be applied by late next week.  The project, which will be done in phases, is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The mural will be painted on a Court Street building wall, next to the Holly Theatre….and will be the first outdoor mural for Beatrice.  The overall project will cost about $8,000, and Sothan says contributions have been received through last year’s Big Give Event in Beatrice, along with pledges from the City of Beatrice and the Gage County Foundation.

Sherwin Williams Company is providing material discounts for the project, which is the start of a downtown art effort in Beatrice.

The mural concept was designed and is being painted by Tyler Rinne.

Sothan says in addition to the mural, the organization wants to bring back vintage-style advertising at various building locations and begin an alley art and string-lighting project.
