BRIDGEPORT - Setter Sydney Nein dished out 31 assists and the Bridgeport volleyball team swept Kimball Thursday night, 25-17, 25-13, 25-13, at Bridgeport High School.
It's the Bulldogs' 11th-straight victory over the Longhorns. The last time Kimball defeated their Western Trails Conference rival was Sept. 10, 2016 in the Gordon-Rushville Invitational.
Nein, a 5'4" senior, finished with two ace serves and a kill.
Bridgeport Head Coach Jackie Rahmig says the girls have a competitiveness about them that's starting to show.
"They're doing a great job," Rahmig said. "The excitement they bring to the court and the excitement they have in practice, it's really competitive and it's been really fun."
Nein's top target was Outside Hitter Ruthie Loomis-Goltl. The 6'2" sophomore had a game-high 16 kills, including six in the first set and seven in the second.
The Longhorns were led by Junior Middle Hitter Amy Birkhofer. She finished with 7 kills. Senior Megan Spicer had 15 assists.
Bridgeport (3-1) and Kimball (0-4) meet again on Tuesday as part of the Bridgeport Triangular with Garden County (3-1).
