It appears the City of Omaha will be mandating masks sometime next week.

According to city and county officials, some legal bugs still need to be worked out but with today's positivity rate in Douglas County hitting 10 percent, the mask order is right around the corner.

Governor Ricketts has opposed any mask mandate and Mayor Jean Stothert says he does not want Omaha to impose an order demanding face coverings.

For the past few weeks Omaha city officials said a mask order was not legally possible but that legal opinion is changing.

Again it appears likely that Omaha will impose a mask mandate sometime next week, joining the City of Lincoln against the governor's wishes.
