SIDNEY, NE - City crews in Sidney are out cleaning up Wednesday evening after heavy winds caused damage in the town.

This video was taken near 18th and Linden streets in Sidney.

Wind gusts were so strong shortly after 5:00 p.m. that it triggered a severe thunderstorm warning from the National Weather Service.

Winds were gusting at 70 miles per hour in some areas There was even a reported gust of 94 miles an hour at the Sidney Airport.

That caused damage like in the video you're seeing now. Large branches peeled and torn off of trees ending up in the streets around Sidney.

Damage to trees was also reported the town of Chappell which is about 25 miles east of Sidney on Interstate 80.
