Highway Collision Causes Minor Injury, Near Ellis
Stopped SUV hit from behind, by car
BEATRICE – Law officers and rescue units were sent to an accident Wednesday west of Beatrice, near the village of Ellis.
A two-vehicle collision at U.S. Highway 136 and Southwest 117th Road, injured one woman, but apparently not seriously.
Law officers, Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire were sent to the scene at around 4:53 p.m. Gage County Deputies say 72-year-old Leatha Christ was driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue east on U.S. Highway 136, and had stopped, waiting to turn north onto Southwest 117th Road.
Her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by 19-year-old Allison Hoyt, of Beatrice.
Neither driver was seriously injured. Christ was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital by a friend. Hoyt was ticketed for following too closely.
