DESHLER, NE — What started as a drug arrest turned into an investigation into possible explosives in a southeast Nebraska home.

The Thayer County Sheriff’s Office says deputies served a search warrant at a house in the 400 block of 1st Street in Deshler on Saturday night. Deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia and arrested the lone adult resident.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies continued to search and found suspected explosive devices and material along with firearms. The Deshler Volunteer Fire Department helped evacuate the immediate area and Nebraska State Patrol bomb technicians were called in. The State Patrol was able to remove the devices and material.

The State Patrol is still investigating.

The Sheriff’s Office says multiple minors were living in the home. They were placed in the care of relatives.
