Norfolk Catholic Schools' Sacred Heart Early Learning center is temporarily closed after a staff member developed COVID-19 symptoms on June 17th, and later tested positive for the disease.

Sacred Heart Elementary Principal Bill Lafluer provided the following statement:

On June 17, a staff member of the Early Learning Center was experiencing COVID symptoms and was sent home.  Sacred Heart Early Learning Center took immediate action and in conjunction with the local health department made a decision to close the center until further information was gathered.  The staff member did test positive for COVID-19.  At the present time we are following guidelines and recommendations from our local health department, as well as having a third party cleaning take place to insure the safety for our families and workers when we open.  At the present time a date for reopening has not been set as we are gathering additional information.  

The safety and well being of all our children and staff is our number one priority.
