Incident on I-80 Thursday ends peacefully
HERSHEY - The Nebraska State Patrol said a situation Thursday evening on I-80 between Hershey and North Platte was safely resolved after over two hours with eastbound travel shut down.
At approximately 6:30 pm CT, NSP received a report of an erratic driver near mile marker 153. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and perform a traffic stop near mile marker 169. However, during the traffic stop, the driver refused to comply with commands.
Out of caution for others in the area, Interstate 80 was closed for eastbound traffic while additional troopers arrived on scene. After more than two hours, NSP negotiators were able to get the driver to voluntarily exit the vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident. I-80 has been reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
